Rana lauds tribal welfare initiatives of Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust

JAMMU: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today held an extensive interaction with members of the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) and prominent community activists at the Trust’s headquarters in Jammu.

Apart from trustees, the meeting brought together leading community representatives, educationists, youth leaders and other key stakeholders. They deliberated on critical issues impacting the Gujjar–Bakerwal community and reviewed the progress of ongoing welfare initiatives.

The meeting held discussions on a wide range of priority concerns, including educational advancement, youth development, effective implementation of tribal welfare programmes, expansion of hostel and residential facilities, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, enhancement of livelihood opportunities and improvement of basic amenities in tribal habitations.

Rana reaffirmed Omar Abdullah Government’s commitment to the socio-economic upliftment of the Gujjar–Bakerwal community.

He assured the gathering that all genuine concerns and proposals presented by the GDCT would be vigorously taken up with the concerned departments for timely and effective redressal.

The Minister also commended the Trust for its decades-long legacy of service, acknowledging its pivotal role in empowering marginalized sections, promoting educational awareness and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Gujjar–Bakerwal tribe.

Underscoring the importance of stronger institutional coordination, Rana emphasized that tribal welfare schemes must be implemented in an inclusive, targeted and accountable manner to ensure their benefits reach the grassroots.

Rana urged the trust to strengthen collaboration between the government and the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust, ensuring that the benefits of development initiatives reach every deserving household within the community.
