The awareness programme was participated by farmers/orchardists from different Horticulture Zones of Srinagar, who received comprehensive awareness and guidance on modern and scientific horticultural techniques, ongoing departmental schemes and innovative practices to enhance productivity and improve fruit quality for better livelihood opportunities.

After inaugurating the event, the Deputy Commissioner inspected stalls set up by Horticulture and allied departments, and machinery distributors, showcasing a wide range of departmental schemes, tools, and technologies designed to support the farming community.

Addressing the gathering of farmers, the DC highlighted several Government initiatives aimed to enhance farmers income and promote sustainable horticulture growth for the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of the farming community. He urged officers to intensify outreach and educate farmers about flagship schemes, particularly MIDH, HADP and JKCIP, ensuring that maximum benefits reach the ground.

The DC further urged the farmers/orchardists to avail maximum benefits from the government schemes as suit them.

He assured all possible support from the district Administration enabling farmers and unemployed youth to fully benefit from the credit-linked and subsidy-based schemes offered by the Government. He also guaranteed fast-track processing of cases under MIDH to ensure timely delivery of benefits.

During the programme, the DC also handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries for the procurement of various horticulture machinery as part of the programme.

At the end of the programme, the Chief Horticulture Officer of Srinagar expressed gratitude to the participating farmers for their enthusiastic involvement and keen interest in the department’s new initiatives.
