His selection is the result of consistent performances, dedication, and steady growth in street cricket, and has sparked celebrations across Wahigund Tangmarg and the Baramulla district.
The achievement has drawn widespread appreciation from local youth, sports enthusiasts, and community elders, who see Shahid’s success as a powerful inspiration for aspiring players and a reflection of the region’s emerging sporting talent. It reinforces the belief that dedication and talent can open doors to national platforms, even for players from remote areas.
Expressing gratitude, Shahid Mir thanked Affarwat XI Sports Club, Baramulla, along with his family, coaches, and supporters for their constant encouragement. He said this opportunity has further motivated him to work harder and represent his village, district, and Jammu & Kashmir with pride.
ISPL, India’s pioneering tennis-ball T10 cricket league, aims to identify and promote grassroots talent. Trials for Season 3 were conducted from 5 October 2025 across 101 cities and concluded in early November. The upcoming season, featuring eight franchises including the Bengaluru Strikers, will be held in Surat from 9 January to 6 February 2026. With squads expanded to 18 players per team, the league has opened more avenues for young and under-19 cricketers.
Shahid Mir’s signing is being hailed as a moment of pride for Tangmarg and Baramulla, and a beacon of hope for local youth. Community leaders believe his journey will encourage more youngsters to participate in trials and pursue sports seriously, contributing to greater discipline, opportunity, and overall youth development in the region.
Determined to make the most of this opportunity, Shahid has reiterated his commitment to rigorous training and aims to bring honour to his homeland in ISPL Season 3.
