Satish Sharma felicitates J&K Deaf Cricket Team

JAMMU: Minister for FCS&CA, IT, Transport, ARI and Trainings, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, today felicitated the Jammu & Kashmir Deaf Cricket Team, which recently emerged as the runner-up in the prestigious T20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf held in New Delhi.

The team’s remarkable achievement has brought widespread appreciation and pride to the Union Territory.

The Minister extended a warm welcome to the players and congratulated them for their determined and spirited performance. “The players of our Deaf Cricket Team have demonstrated extraordinary resilience, discipline, and passion for the sport. Their performance at the national level is an inspiration for every young athlete of J&K,” he added.

Recognising the team’s hard-earned success, the Minister said that requisite support and other assistance would be provided to support the players in their future sporting commitments.

As a mark of appreciation and encouragement, brand new cricket kits were also distributed among the entire team. He assured the athletes that the government remains fully committed towards promoting inclusive sports and ensuring equal opportunities for all specially-abled sportspersons.

During the interaction, Satish Sharma praised the coaching staff and team management for their dedicated efforts in shaping and preparing the players for national-level competitions. He emphasised that the achievements of the Jammu and Kashmir Deaf Cricket Team reflect the growing sports culture and improved infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, which is supported under the government’s youth-centric initiatives.

The team is now preparing for its next major challenge, as it is scheduled to travel to Kolkata next week to participate in another significant national-level tournament.

The Minister conveyed his best wishes, expressing confidence that the players will continue their winning momentum and bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir.
