Br MSME DFO Sgr organises awareness prog on IPR at South Campus KU

SRINAGAR: Br MSME DFO Srinagar, under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, organised a one-day Awareness Program on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at the University of Kashmir, South Campus.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 attendees, including MSMEs, startups, researchers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and students.

Director South Campus, Waseem Bari, welcomed the initiative and appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of MSME in strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. He emphasized that academic-industry collaborations are crucial for nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets and driving sustainable business development.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director, Ministry of MSME, Saheel Alaqband, delivered an insightful session on the importance of IPR in today’s competitive business environment. He highlighted that the Ministry of MSME provides extensive mentoring support through Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFCs) along with financial assistance under the MSME Innovative Scheme. He shared that more than 100 Intellectual Properties have been filed in the last two years, with several already approved and granted, reflecting the growing innovation culture among MSMEs.

IP Attorney, Zainab Syed, delivered a comprehensive presentation on various components of IPR, covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, and the procedures for filing and protection.

Later, participants were also briefed on flagship schemes of the Ministry of MSME, including CGTMSE (Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro & Small Enterprises) and SRI Funds, aimed at empowering startups and MSMEs through institutional financial support.

The participants appreciated the valuable inputs and expressed interest in availing IP related support and other MSME schemes for business growth and innovation.
