PULWAMA: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, today visited Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hawal, Pulwama and attended the Annual Day celebrations of the school.

MLA Rajpoora, Ghulam Mohidin Mir; Principal GHSS Hawal Pulwama, senior officers of district administration, faculty of the institution, a large number of students and their parents were present on the occasion.

Delivering a keynote address at the Annual Day celebrations, Minister Sakeena lauded the efforts of the school in promoting academic excellence and nurturing holistic development among students. She emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring that institutions, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, receive adequate infrastructure and academic support. “Omar Abdullah-led government is modernising education and establishing the best facilities in government schools to enhance enrolment in Government schools,” the Minister stated.

She further added that education is not only about textbooks, but it is also about empowering young minds to think, innovate, and lead. “Our youth are our greatest strength, and it is our responsibility to provide them with opportunities and make them confident, capable and compassionate citizens”, Minister Sakeena said.

On the occasion, the Minister also interacted with students and staff, acknowledging the hard work of teachers and encouraging students to pursue their aspirations with dedication. She praised the school’s achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, and assured support for further development of facilities at the institution.

MLA Rajpoora, Ghulam Mohidin Mir, also spoke on the occasion and said that the demands raised by students and school management will be addressed soon by the Government.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the school presented the Annual Report, highlighting key accomplishments, ongoing initiatives, and future goals aimed at enhancing the learning environment in the institution.

Earlier, the Minister visited various stalls established by students showcasing innovative projects. She appreciated the students for thinking out of the box and coming up with such projects which can bring positive changes in society in the coming times.

The Minister assured the students that the Government will provide them all possible assistance and support for realising their dreams and aspirations.
