SRINAGAR: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today met with several delegations from different parts of Kashmir who apprised him of a range of pressing public issues affecting their respective areas.
The delegations raised concerns regarding the pending payments of contractors under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). they also requested the minister to pass directions to the concerned officers for pacing up of ongoing developmental works .
They also highlighted the need for removing bottlenecks related to the Lift Irrigation Scheme in Tral, a crucial project for local agricultural and horticultural needs.
Similarly, other delegations highlighted the urgent requirement for adequate firewood supply across the Kashmir division, particularly in view of the harsh winter season.
Taking immediate cognizance of these issues, the Minister immediately convened a review meeting with the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Kashmir and senior officials of the Forest Department.
He conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current stock position, supply chain and distribution mechanisms concerning both timber and firewood.
Issuing firm directions, Rana instructed the department to ensure timely, adequate and seamless availability of firewood to the public without any delay.
On the matters pertaining to JJM contractor payments and the Lift Irrigation Scheme in Tral, the Minister assured the delegations that he would personally follow-up with the concerned departments.
He added that these issues would be accorded top priority to facilitate prompt redressal and ensure uninterrupted progress of essential public welfare initiatives.
Reaffirming Omar Abdullah Government’s commitment to responsive, transparent and people-centric governance, Rana stated that the Government remains steadfast in addressing citizens’ concerns proactively and in ensuring the efficient delivery of key public services across J&K.
