JAMMU: A meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Sham Lal Sharma at the Assembly Secretariat, Jammu, to discuss and examine the CAG’s audit paras pertaining to the Revenue and Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (DMRR&R) Departments.

Members, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Altaf Ahmed Wani (Kaloo) and Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal were present in the meeting. They gave valuable suggestions to make the committee more fruitful and vibrant.

Threadbare discussions were held on CAG’s Audit Paras 3.23 & 3.24 (2014-15) and 2.2 & 2.3 (2018-19) PMDP pertaining to Revenue and Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Departments respectively.

The Committee discussed various other issues pointed out in the CAG’s reports and action taken thereon.

The Chairman highlighted that the mandate of the Public Accounts Committee is to examine the observations made by the CAG and sought replies thereto from the concerned departments.

The Chairman directed the concerned officers of DMRR&R to furnish a comprehensive report on the audit paras under examination within a period of ten days, positively, so that the maximum audit paras could be dropped.

The Chairman directed the senior officers of the DMRR&R department to complete the verification of left-over migrants and provide them the relief and assistance on the analogy of other migrants of Jammu and Kashmir.

Accountant General, Tsewang Tharchin, briefed the Committee and pointed out the present status of CAG’s audit paras pertaining to Revenue and DMRR&R Departments.

Principal Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Chandraker Bharti, also briefed the Committee regarding the rehabilitation of migrants and assured the Committee for submitting action taken reports on the audit paras would be submitted within stipulated time frame.

Secretary, JKLA, Manoj Kumar Pandit besides senior officers of Revenue, DMRR&R departments and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
