Srinagar: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Srinagar Zone, has dismantled a narcotics supply module operating across the Baramulla–Pulwama belt with the seizure of 2.730 kg of charas and the arrest of three individuals, including the alleged kingpin.

According to officials, the operation was launched on November 20 following specific intelligence inputs. A team of NCB Srinagar intercepted Bashir Ahmad Malla, a resident of Dhobiwan, Kunzer in Baramulla district, and recovered 2.730 kg of charas from his possession.

Subsequent interrogation and coordinated action with the Baramulla Police led to the arrest of his associate, Mansoor Ahmad Wani, also a resident of Dhobiwan. Officials said Wani played an active role in the supply chain.

NCB Srinagar acknowledged the “strong cooperation and timely support” of Baramulla Police, particularly Kunzer Police Station, noting that their assistance significantly contributed to the success of the operation and strengthened inter-agency coordination in the region.

Based on disclosures made by both accused, the agency apprehended the main supplier, Abdul Rashid Dar, from Pulwama, effectively cracking the entire trafficking chain. All three arrested individuals have past criminal involvement in NDPS cases, officials added.

With the arrest of the mastermind, associate, and courier, the NCB said the entire module responsible for procuring, transporting, and distributing the contraband has been neutralized. Investigations are ongoing to trace financial trails, backward and forward linkages, and any inter-state connections.

The NCB office in Srinagar, established as part of the Government of India’s strategy to strengthen narcotics enforcement in Jammu & Kashmir, continues to intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking networks.

The agency urged the public to support efforts against drug abuse and report information related to narcotics trafficking on the MANAS – National Narcotics Helpline (Toll-Free 1933), assuring that callers’ identities are kept strictly confidential.
