Police ask public to identify hit-and-run motorcyclist

Srinagar: Police Station Nigeen has sought the help of the general public in identifying a motorcyclist who was involved in a hit-and-run incident at Tailbal Adda.

According to police, an unknown motorcyclist, driving rashly and negligently, struck a pedestrian identified as Abdul Rashid Gojri, son of Abdul Rehman Gojri of Kangan. The motorcyclist fled the scene immediately after the incident. The injured pedestrian was shifted to SKIMS Soura for medical treatment; however, he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of investigation, CCTV footage from the vicinity was analysed, and a photograph of the suspected motorcyclist was obtained, police said.

It said the general public is requested to help in identifying the accused motorcyclist. Any information leading to the suspect’s identification or location may be shared with Police Station Nigeen on 9596770590 & 9596770592 Or Dial 112, police said.

Meanwhile, separately police claimed to have solved another hit-and-run case in Kulgam.

Sharing details, police said on November 0, 7/11/2025, an unknown motorcyclist hit and injured a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah of Khandipora, near Town Hall Kulgam. Shah later succumbed to injuries in a Srinagar hospital.

During investigation, police with the help of CCTV footage, zeroed in on a suspected vehicle and the accused driver identified as Abrar Tariq, son of Tariq Ahmad Lone of Kanipora, was arrested and his motorcycle (JK18C-1643) involved in the accident seized, police spokesperson said.
