CS reviews progress of key development projects, flagship schemes in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district to assess the progress of ongoing developmental projects and flagship government initiatives across various sectors.

The meeting was also attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure, besides other divisional and district officers of various departments.

He took this occasion to instruct the district administration to focus on upgrading road connectivity and installing mobile towers in the Dudu-Basantgarh area to improve accessibility and communication infrastructure.

The Chief Secretary urged all departments to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered under government schemes. He called for effective inter-departmental coordination, transparency, and dedication in execution. He stressed that officers must work with commitment and accountability, ensuring projects are completed within the specified timeframes and contribute effectively to the district’s overall growth and development.

While reviewing the education sector, the Chief Secretary directed the CEO to ensure quality education across all government schools. He stressed that all teachers must mark their biometric attendance and the process must be strictly monitored.

The Chief Secretary instructed all officers to undertake regular field visits in their respective jurisdictions to assess on-ground progress. He directed the DC to hold department-wise review meetings to ensure the timely completion of work. He emphasized the capitalization of SHGs,  youth engagement through Mission YUVA and effective implementation of self-employment schemes.

The SE PWD was asked to expedite ongoing works and ensure adherence to targets, while the UEED was asked to explore measures to rejuvenate the Devika River to its original form.

While reviewing the PMGSY (I, II & III) projects, the Chief Secretary instructed the concerned officers to activate men and machinery, accelerate execution and complete works within fixed timelines.

While reviewing the progress of GMC Udhampur, the Chief Secretary directed the administration to strengthen critical care services and introduce specialities in Cardiology, Neurology and Oncology. He further advised exploring the enhancement of intake capacity and initiation of PG programs in the future.

The Chief Secretary directed bankers to conduct awareness programmes on financial inclusion and government-sponsored schemes, increase the number of loan sanctioning cases and ensure effective follow-up under Mission YUVA.

The SE, JPDCL was instructed to sensitise and motivate the public about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to promote household-level solar power adoption.

Later, the Chief Secretary visited the Government Medical College and inspected the ongoing construction works. The SE PWD briefed him about the project’s progress and current status. Chief Secretary reviewed each component in detail and directed the executing agency to adopt a double-shift work schedule to ensure timely completion. He emphasized efficient mobilization of available resources and productive use of manpower to achieve quality outcomes within stipulated timelines.

At the outset, DC Udhampur presented a detailed sector-wise presentation highlighting the progress of major ongoing projects and flagship schemes being executed by various departments, including Chenani–Sudhmahadev road (NH-244), integrated development of tourist facilities at Mantalai and Sudhmahadev, rectification of black spots at Gole Mela and Sangoor, construction of new GMC Udhampur, shifting of ITI building, and augmentation of water supply schemes under AMRUT 2.0.

She also outlined the progress made under PWD, Social Welfare, Education, PMGSY, MGNREGA, SBM-G, RGSA, NRLM, NTEP, RDSS, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Mission YUVA, Agriculture, DIC, Handloom, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, HADP, JJM, Devika Project, Digitisation of Land Records, and District Capex Budget, among others.
