Srinagar: Police have arrested a kidnapper and recovered a kidnapped girl (name withheld) from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
Police identified the accused abductor as Firdous Rustum Khan, son of Rustum Ali Khan of Shatigam, Handwara, who it said was arrested from Himachal Pradesh.
Police said the accused is a “vagabond and was already married around ten years ago, having two children”. The investigation revealed that the accused had been using social media and other online platforms to lure girls.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the recovered girl was handed over to her legal heirs while a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal for further investigations, police said.
