Kishtwar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that the administration will make every possible effort to rehabilitate the recent flood victims.

Speaking to the reporters at Chasoti, Kishtwar after laying the foundation stone of housing project for affected persons during recent floods, Sinha, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured complete support of the central government to the families affected by the recent floods.

“Every possible effort will be made for rehabilitation and revival,” Sinha said.

The Lt Governor stated that the terrible disaster struck on August 14th, killing many local residents, some devotees, and even security personnel. “Since then, the administration here has worked to provide relief and rehabilitation. The SDRF’s approved assistance was also provided at the administrative and government level,” he said.

He added that the government funding for housing is meager. “I, along with Moje Sonwai, who have also come with us. His organization has built these destitute families better homes that can accommodate them even during snowfall. We will begin that work now. The BRO has also put a lot of effort into rebuilding the road, bridge guards, petrol pumps and mobile phone coverage,” he said.

He stated that the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit here earlier, but couldn’t reach to the place due to bad weather conditions.

“After coming here, I felt I should come here again, and I believe whatever the administration can do for the rehabilitation of the people here will be insufficient. The Prime Minister has also given full assurance that the central government stands fully with the families of those who lost their lives in this disaster. Every possible effort will be made for their rehabilitation and revival,” he added—(KNO)
