Addressing the distinguished gathering of healthcare professionals, medical students, and policymakers, the Minister highlighted the importance of and commended GMC Srinagar for advancing women’s wellness through education, research, and clinical care. She emphasized that women’s health must be seen as a societal priority, not just a sectoral concern. “Empowering women through better healthcare access and education strengthens families, communities, and the nation at large,” the Health Minister stated.

In his address, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, appreciated the department for creating a strong academic platform that blends evidence-based medicine with practical training.

Principal and Dean, GMC Srinagar, Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah in her address emphasized on the role of technology and continuous skill development in gynaecologic practice. She noted that modern tools such as minimally invasive surgery, robotic laparoscopy, and advanced reproductive techniques are transforming women’s healthcare.

Organizing Chairperson and Head of the Department, Dr. Syed Masuma Rizvi, in her welcome address outlined the conference objectives, which focus on updates in Endometriosis, Infertility, Urogynecology, and Menopausal Health. She said that such academic platforms promote collaboration and raise healthcare standards.

Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, and Medical Superintendent, LD Hospital, Dr. Muzaffar Jan extended their appreciation for the event and reaffirmed their support for GMC Srinagar’s academic and clinical initiatives.

The first day of the conference featured scientific sessions on laparoscopic management of endometriosis, Assisted Reproductive Technologies, urogynecologic reconstructive surgery, and menopause management. The sessions helped participants understand current best practices in gynaecology.

The conference also witnessed expert talks by Dr. Seema Hakim and Dr. Shaheen Anjum from Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. (Dr.) Shweta Mittal Gupta from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi, Dr. Vyjayanthi from KIMS Hyderabad, and Dr. Ajay Agarwal, noted laparoscopic surgeon. Their presentations highlighted new techniques and clinical innovations.

The second day of conference will include a hands-on workshop on advanced laparoscopic and reproductive procedures. The workshop will help young doctors and trainees gain technical skills, clinical confidence, and direct mentorship from national experts.

The Minister on the occasion also felicitated Dr. Bilques Jameela and Dr. Shahida Mir, both former Heads of the department for their service to women’s health and medical education.
