Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leaders continued a series of public meetings across Budgam, urging voters to keep the culprits of 2014 and 2019 away from the corridors of power.

Continuing the campaign for party candidate Aga Syed Mehmood, senior NC leaders and legislators Farooq Ahmad Shah and Dr. Muhammad Shafi addressed gatherings at Narbal, Narbal Ghat, Yari Gund, Gund Jahangir, and Qazi Bagh Budgam.

The leaders underscored the significance of the Budgam by-elections, citing the centrality of the seat and its role in safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir’s unique identity. They accused the PDP, BJP and their proxies of attempting to mislead the public under “new political masks,” reminding voters that these same forces were responsible for plunging the region into years of instability and neglect.

They emphasized that Budgam remains a top developmental priority for the Omar government, which, they said, has initiated and earmarked several key projects for the district’s holistic progress. They called for unified public support to strengthen the ongoing developmental mission and ensure Aga Syed Mehmood’s victory, describing him as a dynamic representative capable of translating the NC’s vision for Budgam into tangible results.

The NC leadership highlighted the achievements of the Omar Abdullah government, noting that the past year has been marked by the revival of democratic institutions and public trust after years of indirect governance. They pointed to renewed public engagement in policy making, increased administrative accessibility, and sustained focus on inclusive development across both regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to its manifesto, the leaders reiterated that the restoration of statehood remains central to reclaiming the political and constitutional rights of the people. They asserted that the government is making significant strides across sectors, with Jammu and Kashmir moving forward in tandem under equitable representation.

Earlier, senior NC leaders Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana and Dr. Muhammad Shafi also addressed a series of meetings in Budgam, mobilising support for Aga Syed Mehmood.
