SRINAGAR: The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today urged legislators to exercise restraint and use measured language while participating in debates to uphold the sanctity of the House. He observed that members, as representatives of the people, must show mutual respect and maintain the decorum of the Assembly.
During the Zero Hour, several legislators raised pressing public issues concerning their respective constituencies.
Shagun Parihar, MLA Kishtwar, highlighted that certain remote areas like Chatter to Oli continue to lack road access, forcing residents to carry patients in palkis. She also sought expeditious completion of ongoing road projects in her constituency.
Iftikhar Ahmad, MLA Rajouri, called for immediate disbursal of flood relief and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, besides urging for the timely conduct of DPCs in the Education Department for the Jammu division.
Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, MLA Kulgam, emphasized that every citizen has the right to express concerns freely. He demanded that detainees and youth from J&K lodged in prisons outside the Union Territory be shifted back on humanitarian grounds to facilitate easier access for their families.
Surjit Singh Slathia, MLA Samba, demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of land in Sainik Colony and sought return of money to ex-servicemen and their families who are yet to receive plots.
