Srinagar: The Department of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Jammu and Kashmir, has clarified that the newly developed Chrysanthemum Garden at the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden (NMBG) in Srinagar was entirely conceived, developed, and executed by the department itself.
In an official statement issued on Monday, the department said that certain reports and social media posts suggesting collaboration with any other agency in creating the garden are “factually incorrect and misleading.”
“No institutional collaboration, memorandum of understanding (MoU), or joint execution has been undertaken with any agency for the development of the Chrysanthemum Garden,” the statement read.
The department emphasized that its officers, technical team, and field staff were solely responsible for the planning, design, plantation, and landscaping of the garden under the department’s regular development programme.
While acknowledging the contributions of various institutions and agencies toward the broader development of the Union Territory’s floriculture sector, the department underscored the importance of giving due credit to the actual executing agency.
“The Department of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks deserves recognition for its vision and sustained efforts in adding another landmark to Kashmir’s floral landscape, following the successful establishment of the Tulip Garden,” it said.
The Chrysanthemum Garden at NMBG, according to the department, stands as a proud, independent initiative aimed at enhancing public spaces and promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir during the autumn season.
Reaffirming its commitment to beautifying the region, the department said it will continue developing similar floral attractions across the Union Territory under its own exclusive initiatives.
