Srinagar: Two women drug peddlers were arrested with more than 15 kg of narcotics in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, police said.
They were arrested while checking in the Melhura Zainapora area of the south Kashmir district, a police official said.
He said 15 kg of crushed cannabis and 1 kg of cannabis-like substances were recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, in Awantipora, at Tulbagh Pampore, two persons travelling in a vehicle (JK02C-0370) were arrested after 30 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Younis Nisar Joo, son of Nisar Ahmad Joo of Wuyan, and Syed Majid Altaf, son of Mohammad Altaf of Lethpora. Their vehicle has also been seized.
In Sopore, police arrested Junaid Mushtaq Tabardar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Tabardar of Batpora Sopore, after a “significant quantity” of psychotropic substances including Codeine Phosphate bottles and Alprazolam tablets were recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigation, police said.
