Srinagar: Police in Shopian recovered a kidnapped minor girl within hours of her abduction from the Chitragam area of Zainapora and arrested the accused, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.
He said Police Station Zainapora received a complaint through WhatsApp from a resident of Chitragam Zainapora, reporting that his 11-year-old sister had gone missing from her home around 1400 hours.
An e-FIR was registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and during investigation, police with the help of technical leads, recovered the kidnapped girl in Kulgam and arrested the alleged kidnapper Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Gund Chal Kulgam, police said.
Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law.
