SRINAGAR: Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, chaired a review meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) to assess its operational efficiency and procurement processes.

The meeting focused on strengthening the operational efficiency of JKMSCL, particularly through the Drug & Vaccine Distribution Management System (DVDMS) portal, and ensuring strict adherence to procurement guidelines and Rate Contracts (RCs). The Chair underscored the importance of maintaining transparency, accountability, and timely procurement through established processes.

The Secretary directed JKMSCL to implement DVDMS at all healthcare facilities, from GMCs to sub-centres, to track drug requirements and consumption. He also emphasized the need to execute tenders for Machinery & Equipment in a time-bound manner and formulate an Essential Equipment List (EEL) for scientific planning of future procurements to align procurements strictly Dir patient care and public welfare.

Dr. Shah stressed the importance of implementing penal clauses for any delays in executing supplies and taking strict disciplinary action against defaulters. He also emphasized the need for statutory audits and quality testing of drugs, and the operationalization of the modern testing laboratory at Kathua.

“All officers must gear up for improved performance, clear all legal pendency without delay, and ensure timely and effective implementation of projects and contracts. JKMSCL must maintain the highest standards of transparency and efficiency in its operations,” said Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah.
