During the visit, Kavinder Gupta reviewed the technical, operational, and logistical aspects of the solar power plant. Secretary PDD Rudra Goud PT, IAS, Chief Engineer PDD Tsewang Paljor, Superintending Engineer PDD, along with senior officials from LPDD, SECI, and the EPC contractors, accompanied the Lt Governor during the inspection.

The project is being executed under the guidance of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), acting as the Project Management Consultant, while Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) responsibilities are jointly managed by Ecoteq Green Energies Foundation and Oneindig Technologies Limited.

The Lt Governor commended the LPDD and its partner organisations for their dedication toward advancing clean energy initiatives in Ladakh. He emphasised the crucial role of renewable energy in ensuring long-term energy security, reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and protecting the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. “Harnessing solar power is not only a step toward environmental sustainability but also a crucial element in securing Ladakh’s energy future,” Kavinder Gupta stated.

Kavinder Gupta highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in project execution. He encouraged all stakeholders to collaborate closely to ensure the timely completion of the project and its optimal operational performance.

The 12 MW Solar Power Project at Phey aligns with the Union Territory Administration’s broader vision of promoting green infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, and creating a sustainable energy ecosystem in Ladakh. The initiative reflects Ladakh’s commitment to embracing innovative energy solutions that balance development with ecological responsibility.
