GDC Women Anantnag hosts cultural programme

ANANTNAG: As part of the ongoing Deepavali celebrations, Government Degree College (Women), Anantnag, in collaboration with Media Student Association Haryana, organised a one-day cultural program on the theme “Diversity Unites India: A Journey through Cultures” today at the college auditorium.

The program aimed to provide a platform to the students to showcase their artistic talent and to strengthen cultural awareness and national integration by bringing together people from different regions.

Principal of the college, Prof (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, Head Debates and Seminars Committee, faculty and non-teaching staff of the college, President and members of Media Student Association Haryana, along with the students and local artists, participated in the event.

Principal of the college, in his inaugural address, briefed the audience regarding the theme of the event and spoke at length about the diverse cultures thriving in the country. He also highlighted the historical, cultural and plural ethos that have united the nation for ages.

Elaborating on the importance of the event, the Head of the Debates and Seminars Committee provided an insightful account of the rich cultural diversity and range of festivals celebrated across India.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Student Media Association informed about the active role of the association in connecting the student fraternity and cultures of different regions of the country.

During the program, student artists mesmerised the audience through a series of vibrant performances including vocal music, instrumental music, group dance (classical/folk/modern) and patriotic songs reflecting Haryanvi and Kashmiri cultural landscape as well as the national art and heritage.They also delivered presentations on national unity and integrity, with the focus on fostering an environment of cooperation and harmony in society.

The participants hailed the initiative and stressed the importance of organising such programmes to celebrate cultural diversity and promote national integration.
