11 ‘absconders’ arrested in Sopore, Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have apprehended eleven individuals who had been evading arrest for several years in Sopore and Ganderbal.

A police spokesperson said that Police Post Bus Stand Sopore apprehended Hilal Ahmad Siraj, son of Abdul Rasheed Siraj; and Abdul Rasheed Siraj, son of Juma Siraj of Sidiq Colony Sopore, who are involved in Case FIR No. 311/1999 U/S 376, 109 RPC of Police Station Sopore. The duo had been evading arrest since 2011.

Nazir Ahmad Beigh, son of Gull Beigh of Botingoo Sopore was apprehended by Police Post Warpora. He was wanted in Case FIR No. 120/2013 U/S 379 RPC & 6 Forest Act of Police Station Sopore and had been absconding since 2018, police said.

In Ganderbal, police have apprehended eight absconders who were wanted in connection with criminal cases and had been evading arrest for years.

The arrested absconders were identified as Alam Din Khatana, son of Allah-u-Din Khatana of Anderwan Lar, involved in FIR No. 187/1995 U/S 7/25 I.A. Act;  Nazir Ahmad Takad, son of Hashim Din Takad (Gojar) of Wangath Kangan, involved in FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; Mohammad Lateef Takad, son of Mohammad Hashim Din Takad (Gojar) of Wangath Kangan, involved in FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; Mohammad Shareef Khatana, son of Abdul Aziz Khatana of Wangath, Kangan, involved in Case FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; Mohammad Yaqoob Takad, son of Asham Din Takad of Wangath, Kangan, involved in case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; Mohammad Amin Takad, son of Hashim Din Takad of Machkani Wangath, involved in Case FIR No. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; Mohammad Qasim Khatana, son of  Abdul Aziz Khatana of Machkani Wangath, involved in case FIR NO. 84/1990 U/S 451, 366 RPC; and Showket Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat of Urpash Ganderbal, involved in case FIR No. 21/2015 U/S 379 RPC.
