First Randomization of EVMs, VVPATs conducted for Budgam bye-elections

BUDGAM: The First Randomisation of FLC passed EVMs and VVPATs to be used in the upcoming Bye-elections to 27-AC Budgam was conducted on Thursday by District Election Officer Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat at the new conference hall in Budgam.

Detailed instructions on First Randomisation of EVMs and VVPATs are mentioned in the Manual on Electronic Voting Machine, which is available on the ECI website (https://www.eci.gov.in/evm-vvpat).

First Randomization of EVMs and VVPATs was done through EVM Management System, developed by Election Commission of India, in the presence of the representatives of National and State Recognised Political Parties, namely, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, and Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

After completion of First Randomization, lists of EVMs and VVPATs allocated in the 27-Assembly Constituency Budgam has been shared with all the National and State Recognised Political Parties in the district headquarters.

These EVMs and VVPATs will be provided to the Returning Officer to 27-AC Budgam/Assistant Returning Officers to 27-AC Budgam, for use in bye-elections.

Furthermore, these EVMs and VVPATs will be stored in the respective Assembly Strong Room in the presence of the representatives of National and State Recognised Political Parties.

After finalisation of the list of contesting candidates, the list of first randomised EVMs and VVPATs will be shared with all the contesting candidates, as well.
