The MoU opens avenues for joint research in diverse disciplines related to aquatic crops of nutritional, medicinal, and economic importance such as makhana, lotus, and water chestnut as well as other areas aligned with the mandates of both institutions.

This strategic partnership aims to strengthen the research ecosystem by facilitating the exchange of students, faculty, and scholars for academic training, research, and capacity-building initiatives. The collaboration will enable the sharing of advanced research instrumentation facilities and scientific expertise between the two institutions to enhance the quality and impact of ongoing and future research programs.

By combining ICAR-NRCM’s national expertise in aquatic crop research and SKUAST-K’s strong foundation in hill and mountain agriculture, this partnership seeks to promote innovation, sustainable agricultural development, and entrepreneurship in the North-Western Himalayan region.

The alliance reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence, technological advancement, and the holistic One Health approach integrating plant, animal, human, and environmental health for ensuring food and nutritional security across the region and beyond.
