IndianOil ensures uninterrupted LPG supplies in J&K despite NH-44 disruption

Srinagar, Oct 6: In the wake of incessant rains that led to a portion of NH–44 near Jakheni (Udhampur) being washed away on August 26, 2025, IndianOil successfully ensured uninterrupted LPG supplies across Jammu & Kashmir despite severe logistical challenges.

The highway disruption temporarily impacted the movement of tank trucks and affected bulk as well as packed LPG supplies to the Ramban District, Doda–Kishtwar region, and the Srinagar area.

Demonstrating prompt crisis management, IndianOil activated alternate arrangements through the Mughal Road route, which allows movement of only 6-tyre tank trucks. The company redeployed its fleet of 6-tyre tank trucks—usually used for Leh supplies during the Advanced Winter Stocking (AWS) period—to maintain continuous LPG bulk movement to the Anantnag Bottling Plant.

Between August 26 and September 20, 2025, 115 bulk LPG tank trucks carrying 920 MT of LPG were dispatched to Anantnag, ensuring uninterrupted bottling operations. Additionally, 94 packed LPG tank trucks carrying 455.9 MT of LPG were sent from the Jammu Bottling Plant to valley-based distributors, ensuring no distributor went dry and no rationing was required.

To support the overall supply chain, IndianOil also provided two bulk LPG tank trucks to BPCL’s Khyber Plant to facilitate its operations. The Doda–Kishtwar region was back-fed from Anantnag via Sinthan Top, while Ramban received supplies through Anantnag once partial connectivity on NH–44 was restored.

Reaffirming its commitment, IndianOil stated that adequate measures remain in place to maintain normal supply and meet the energy needs of consumers across Jammu & Kashmir, even amid adverse weather and terrain conditions.
