Fierce semi-final contests mark day 4 of Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship in Srinagar

Srinagar: The 3rd Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2025 entered its fourth day at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar, with electrifying bouts as young martial artists fought their way into the semi-finals.

With over 300 athletes from 11 participating nations, the day was marked by high-intensity matches across different weight categories. The quarter-final rounds saw nail-biting finishes, as competitors from India, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam emerged strong, securing their places in the semi-finals.

Spectators were treated to displays of speed, precision, and tactical brilliance, as each contest reflected the determination and discipline of the young silat practitioners. Loud cheers echoed through the arena, creating an atmosphere charged with excitement.

Adding to the day’s highlights, the award ceremony for the artistic events was held, where young performers showcased their mastery of the traditional art form and were felicitated with medals and honours. Medals were distributed by Fam, Mohammad Iqbal, Prakash Kishore Yewale, Saima, Rouf, and other presidents of the Pencak Silat Federation from participating countries.

A major highlight of the artistic events was Kanha Behera of India, who won the Solo Creative event, earning India’s first gold medal at the 3rd Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2025.

Meanwhile, the tanding (combat) category reached the semi-final stage, with fighters battling fiercely for a place in the medal rounds. Officials noted that Day 4 represented a turning point in the championship, as the competition now moves closer to the decisive medal rounds.

“The energy and competitive spirit are at their peak. The semi-finalists have shown great skill and resilience, and we look forward to even more thrilling performances in the coming days,” said an event spokesperson.

The championship, running from 25–30 September 2025, will now advance toward the grand finale and closing medal distribution ceremony, promising more action and celebration in the days ahead at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar.
