DLSA Srinagar observes ‘World Tourism Day’

Holds awareness prog on drug abuse & POCSO Act

SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organised a comprehensive legal awareness programme to sensitise students on critical legal and social issues, with a particular focus on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the menace of drug abuse, and the observance of World Tourism Day, at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Telbal, Srinagar.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and conducted under the supervision of Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/ Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.

The event brought together students, teachers, and resource persons for an engaging and informative session.

Addressing the gathering, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the importance of World Tourism Day and the growing threat posed by drug abuse in society. She underscored the need for youth to become ambassadors of responsible tourism while also remaining vigilant against substance abuse, which severely impacts communities and future generations.

In continuation, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, DLSA Srinagar, spoke on the provisions and significance of the POCSO Act. She explained how the Act serves as a robust legal framework to safeguard children from sexual offences and emphasised the responsibility of society at large to ensure the protection and well-being of minors.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students actively participated and expressed their views.
