CBC organises Swachhata Outreach Programme at GHSS Gulab Bagh

Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Field Office Srinagar, today organised a day-long Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Swachhata Mission LiFE and New Criminal Laws at Government Higher Secondary School, Gulab Bagh, Srinagar.

The programme aimed to raise awareness among students and the community about environmental protection, adoption of sustainable lifestyle practices, and the provisions of New Criminal Laws.

Resource persons from the Education Department, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), J&K Pollution Control Committee, Police, and other departments participated in the programme and spoke on the themes of the programme.

Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, underscored the importance of cleanliness, calling it a basic prerequisite for a healthy life. He urged participants to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices for overall well-being.

Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC, Mudasir Hussain Banday, highlighted the critical role of local bodies in waste disposal and segregation. He appealed to the audience to use resources judiciously and contribute actively towards environmental protection.

District Pollution Control Officer, J&K Pollution Control Committee, Fayaz Ahmad, emphasized the significance of greenery and clean surroundings. He detailed harmful lifestyle practices leading to pollution of water bodies and encouraged participants to embrace Swachhata.

Filed Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, Naseer Ahmad Rather, noted that such outreach programmes are conducted across Jammu and Kashmir to sensitise youth about sustainable practices. He reiterated CBC’s commitment to spreading awareness of government welfare schemes through outreach activities and multimedia exhibitions.

Filed Publicity Officer, CBC Anantnag, Shahid Mohammad Lone, also highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and underlined the crucial role of CBC in field-level communication and awareness generation.

Station House Officer, Zakoora, Khurshid Ahmad, spoke on the New Criminal Laws, stressing that the new framework focuses more on welfare and reform rather than punishment. He urged the young audience to abide by the law and contribute to peace and progress.

As part of the programme, students enthusiastically participated in an open quiz, painting and drawing competition, and a debate competition. Winners were felicitated with certificates and mementoes. A Shramdaan activity and plantation drive were also conducted.

The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge to maintain cleanliness and commit themselves to sustainable living practices.
