SRINAGAR: The House Committee constituted by the Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, to “probe the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in J&K” today conducted an On-Spot Inspection of the Water Supply Scheme Kachwari in Khansahib Constituency of District Budgam.
Hasnain Masoodi, Chairman, House Committee-JJM, was accompanied by Ali Mohammad Dar, MLA, R.S. Pathania, MLA and Rafiq Ahmad Naik, MLA. Members of the Committee, besides MLA Khansahib Saif-ud-din Bhat also joined the Committee during inspection.
During the inspection of WSS Kachwari, the local inhabitants of the Kachwari hamlet interacted with the visiting Committee and a few of them alleged that the Department has failed to provide safe drinking water to the habitation despite huge investments.
The Managing Director, Jal Jeevan Mission and Chief Engineer, PHE Kashmir, who were also accompanying the Committee during the said inspection, apprised it that the area is being provided safe and adequate drinking water and to achieve the fixed targets in respect of FHTCs, approximately an amount of Rs. 7.0 crore have been spent for laying a pipeline over a distance of more than 11 kilometres up to a spring which serves as the source for the said Scheme.
The fact was also acknowledged by the majority of the locals present there; thereafter, the Committee inspected the under-construction WSS-Sheikh-ul-Alam Mehjoor in Basnatnag.
