Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul inaugurates 3rd National Lok Adalat at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, who is also the administrative Judge of Baramulla, visited Baramulla and inaugurated the 3rd National Lok Adalat of year 2025 at District Court Complex here.

The National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Baramulla.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa; Chairman DLSA and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jawad Ahmad; President Bar Association, Advocate Nelofer Masood and others were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Koul underscored Lok Adalat’s significance in resolving disputes outside conventional court systems.

He urged the Legal Services fraternity to address substantial, long-pending cases within Lok Adalats that have been lingering in courts for long periods and encouraged exploring settlements involving relevant departments to expedite resolutions and reduce legal procedures.

Meanwhile, Justice Koul personally handed over compensation cheques amounting to Rs.16.81 lakhs to two victims of road accidents, sanctioned under the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT).

Meanwhile, Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul interacted with Bar Association Baramulla and emphasized the need for continued cooperation between the Bench and the Bar to ensure speedy, efficient, and accessible justice to the common people.
