Health Minister condoles demise of former GMC Sgr Principal Dr Syed Ashaq Hussain

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, has condoled the sad demise of former Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, Dr. Ashaq Hussain Naqshbandi, who passed away after a prolonged illness. In her condolence message, the Health Minister described late Prof. Ashaq as a visionary academician known for his distinguished service and contributions to medical education and surgery in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The late Dr. Ashaq was a dedicated medical professional whose leadership at GMC Srinagar greatly advanced medical education standards and institutional development. His relentless commitment to nurturing future generations of healthcare professionals leaves behind an inspiring legacy,” Minister Sakeena stated.

The Minister further said that the late Dr. Ashaq was known for his scholarly approach, compassionate mentorship and unwavering dedication to the medical fraternity. “ Late Prof. Ashaq has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic framework of GMC Srinagar, mentoring countless students and medical practitioners over decades”, the Health Minister said.

Minister Sakeena urged the medical fraternity and all associated institutions to continue striving towards the values and principles that Dr. Ashaq stood for.

The Health Minister also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the family and colleagues to bear this irreparable loss.
