Srinagar: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday called on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and sought his immediate intervention in the evacuation and rescue measures for Kashmiri laborers trapped due to the landslide.
Both Mir and the Chief Minister expressed grief over the loss of lives, extending heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families.
After the tragic landslides that struck various parts of Himachal Pradesh, especially in Kullu district, Mir apprised the Chief Minister about the condition of Kashmiri laborers and urged timely evacuation, relief, and rescue measures. The Himachal Pradesh government carried out the operations on a war-footing basis.
Due to the Chief Minister’s timely intervention, the trapped labourers were shifted to safer places where they were provided first aid, accommodation, food, and other facilities. The Himachal CM also assured Mir of the early deportation of the deceased persons from the state.
Mir expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and hailed the swift action. At the same time, he expressed grief over the widespread devastation and loss of lives caused by the catastrophe in Himachal Pradesh and conveyed solidarity with the Chief Minister and the people of the state.
