BUDGAM: In view of breach in the River Jhelum bund near village Zoonipora, Budgam, and following inundation of nearby areas, district administration Budgam apprehends deluge in Seerbagh and Summerbugh villages of Budgam and as such has actively engaged teams for relocating people from these areas to safety.
It has further requested people from these areas to move to safer areas till the water level recedes.
Earlier, in the wee hours flood waters had entered Shalina, Rakh Shalina, and Baghi Shakirshah villages due to this breach in the River Jhelum bund near village Zoonipora. However, residents of these villages were safely evacuated during the night to designated rescue centers and safer locations.
Meanwhile, district administration Budgam has activated 06 rescue centers in the affected area, namely GHS Wagoora, GHSS Khandah, Sheikh-ul-Alam HS Wagoora, GHSS BK Pora, Islamic Public HS Kralpora, and Dar-ul-Fatah Dangerpora.
Details of these rescue centers have been shared with the media for public information.
“Our entire manpower and machinery is on the ground. Adequate numbers of rescue teams led by SDRF, NDRF, Police, and Revenue officials are stationed at the site and carrying out relief and rescue operations,” said an official.
He said citizens are advised to remain cautious and not to panic. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure safety and protection of life and property.
