KPDCL, JKPTCL announce power shutdowns across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns in different areas to facilitate upgradation and maintenance works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, commissioning of a 100 KVA Transformer at Horse Stable Boulevard for strengthening the street lighting network at Grand Palace Zeetyar Horse Stable and Rajbhawan will require shutdown of 33 KV Cheshmashahi–TRC and 33 KV Centaur–Badamibagh Tap lines on 04 September 2025 from 09:00 AM to 11:30 AM. However, no receiving stations or consumer areas will be affected.

In a separate schedule, KPDCL said that in order to operationalise LILO arrangements of the 33 KV Pampore–SIDCO line at IE Wuyan, shutdown of the line will be observed on 07 September 2025 from 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM, affecting 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at IE Khrew and cement plants, thereby impacting power supply to the industrial area and associated units.

Further, for facilitating the cutting down of poplar trees near the 33 KV Khellan line, shutdown of the 33 KV Khellan Tap line (feeding from Awantipora Sangam-I line) will be carried out on 08 September 2025 from 08:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, during which the 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Khellan shall remain off, affecting supply to Rakh/Litter, Naina, Batpora, Khellan and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, informed that to replace an old 33 KV Breaker with a new one in the 33 KV Arampora feeder at Grid Station Amargarh, shutdown of the feeder will be observed on 04 September 2025 from 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM. As a result, 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Shair Colony, Panzipora, Arampora, and Bugoo will remain off, affecting power supply to the respective areas.
