MLA Paddar Nagseni, MLA Kishtwar review water supply restoration in Kishtwar, Nagseni & Paddar

KISHTWAR: Leader of Opposition (LoP) and MLA Paddar–Nagseni, Sunil Sharma, today visited the cloudburst hit site at Noos Nallah, Wagan Garh, Padyarna, where the flash flood washed away a major stretch of the Kishtwar–Paddar Road. He was accompanied by ACR Idrees Lone; Tehsildar Nagseni Mohammad Rafie Naik, OC GREF and other senior officers.

During the visit, the MLA inspected the affected stretch and took stock of the damage caused to the surrounding agricultural and horticultural land of the local inhabitants.

The LoP/MLA informed that by this evening, the road would be made motorable for light motor vehicles, ensuring temporary relief to stranded commuters. He further emphasized that a permanent and long-term solution lies in the construction of a bridge at the site.

He directed the ACR to immediately prepare a detailed proposal for the same so that a sustainable solution can be worked out at the earliest.

Appealing to the people stranded at various locations, the MLA appealed to them to maintain patience till evening as efforts are underway to restore road connectivity.

The LOP/MLA also appreciated the District Administration Kishtwar and all field officers for their swift action in launching restoration works and ensuring timely response to the crisis.

Meanwhile, MLA Paddar Nagseni, Sunil Sharma and MLA, Shagun Parihar, today reviewed the status of water supply in Kishtwar, Nagseni and Paddar areas.

It was informed that the water supply in Kishtwar town has remained disrupted for the last two days due to damage to the Naigad Gravity line.

The Executive Engineer Jal Shakti apprised the LoP and MLA about the ongoing restoration efforts.

The Legislators directed the Jal Shakti officials to ensure early restoration of the damaged supply line.

They also instructed the department to mobilize water tankers in the affected areas to provide immediate relief to the public until full restoration is achieved.

The meeting was attended by ACR Idrees Lone, ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, AEE Jal Shakti Kishtwar besides other senior officers.
