Anantnag: Two persons lost their lives due to electrocution while attempting to salvage goods from shops during a flood-like situation triggered by heavy rainfall in the Ganjiwara area of Anantnag.

The incident occurred at around 3:00 AM past night when torrential rains led to severe waterlogging in the market area. Amid chaos, shopkeepers rushed to save their valuable merchandise.

Two persons, reportedly a truck driver and his helper, came in contact with a live transmission line while loading items into their vehicle.

Both sustained severe electric burns and were immediately rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, where they were declared dead.

The deceased were identified as Arshad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Lower Mundah Qazigund, and Junaid Ahmad Bhat from Mominabad.
