140 assistive devices distributed among CWSN students at Shopian

MLA Zainapora chairs distribution function

SHOPIAN: Education Department, Shopian, under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha, today organised a distribution camp for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) at Government Higher Secondary School Imamsahib, Shopian.

The event aimed at providing aids and appliances to specially-abled students to promote inclusive education and enable their seamless integration into mainstream classrooms.

Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Zainapora, Showkat Hussain Ganie, was present at the event. Principal HSS Imamsahib, Mushtaq Ahmad, other dignitaries, officials, and education stakeholders were also present.

A team of experts from ALIMCO, along with Special Education Teachers under Samagra Shiksha, distributed aids and appliances and provided hands-on training to children on their usage, thereby empowering them with tools for better mobility and participation in regular educational activities.

In his address, MLA Zainapora lauded the efforts of the education department and all stakeholders for organizing the event while also commending the parents of specially-abled children for their dedication. He emphasized the empowerment of differently-abled students through education.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal HSS Imamsahib appreciated the parents for their unwavering support towards the education of their specially-abled wards. He highlighted the significance of such camps in complementing the efforts toward creating a disability-friendly infrastructure in schools, including accessible toilets, ramps, and other essential facilities that foster an inclusive learning environment.

The camp served as a meaningful step toward achieving the vision of inclusive education under Samagra Shiksha and was well-received by the community and participating families.

More than 140 assistive devices were distributed among CWSN by the department in two camps covering all four education zones.
