KULGAM: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today presided over the Sampoornata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh at Manzgam block here.

The Sampoornata Abhiyan is being held in the backdrop of Aspirational Blocks Programme launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in 2023 covering 500 Blocks across the country. Kulgam district has been awarded Gold Medal for achieving 100% saturation in 6 indicators of this programme.

The programme was organised by District Administration Kulgam under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Block Programme at Sports Stadium, Manzgam, marking a major milestone in the development journey of Aspirational Block Manzgam.

As part of Sampoornata Abhiyan, Minister Sakeena also inaugurated Akanksha Haat, a dedicated exhibition space promoting local crafts, SHG products/brands and farmers’ produce initiatives as part of the week-long celebration.

Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, the Minister emphasized that such programmes are vital in ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries effectively.

Highlighting the availability of multiple employment-generation schemes, especially for women and youth, the Minister urged for generating maximum awareness among the public so that as many people can benefit from these schemes.

She also stressed on the importance of sustained awareness campaigns so that communities can fully access the support available to them.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner commended the relentless efforts that transformed Manzgam into a top-performing block under NITI Aayog’s performance indicators.

Earlier, the Minister, along with Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan, inspected departmental stalls set up to showcase various developmental schemes and welfare initiatives.

In recognition of exemplary contributions, frontline workers, block and district-level officials and other stakeholders were felicitated by the Minister under the Sampoornata Abhiyan initiative.

DDC Chairman Kulgam, DDC members, senior officers of district administration and a large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
