Power shutdown in Shopian on August 3 for tree cutting operation

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in several areas of Shopian district on August 3, 2025, to facilitate the removal of burnt Chinar trees at Bonabazar, near Kral Masjid.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdown has been requested by the Tehsildar Shopian to ensure safe and uninterrupted execution of the tree-cutting operation.

As a result, the 33KV Kanipora-Batapora line will remain shut, leading to the outage of 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Batapora, Gagren, and the Mini-Secretariat in Shopian. Consequently, power supply will be affected in the areas of Gagren, Shopian Town, Sharatpora, IE Gagren, Mini Secretariat, Hotline, Devpora, Hurpora, Sedow, Batapora, and adjoining localities.

The shutdown will be observed from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Authorities have advised residents to plan accordingly and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
