Planned power shutdowns announced in Bla and Budgam

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu & Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have announced scheduled power shutdowns in parts of Baramulla and Budgam districts to facilitate essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33KV Baramulla-1st and Baramulla-2nd feeders will be observed on July 31, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM to enable the insertion of a pole at the PHE Drangbal site. As a result, 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Baramulla-1st, Kanlibagh, GMC Baramulla, Baramulla-2nd, Bagh-i-Islam, Drangbal, and Sheeri will remain off during the period.

Consequently, power supply will be disrupted in the areas of Kanlibagh, Baramulla main town, Noorbagh, Sangri, Ushkura, Rangwar, Khawajabagh (partially), Kantbagh, DC Office/residence Baramulla, Court Complex Baramulla, SSP Office, DIG Office North, as well as Bagh-i-Islam, Drangbal, Sheeri, Old Town Baramulla, Khadniyar, SPC Sheeri, Main Sheeri, Fatehgarh, Janbazpora, and adjoining localities.

Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, has also informed that a scheduled power shutdown will take place on July 30, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, to complete the balance work related to the installation of spherical balls on the 220KV Wagoora–Zainakote transmission line, including the reconnection of jumpers and charging of both circuits.

This will affect power supply to several areas of Budgam district, including Char-i-Sharief, Chadoora, Nagam, Panzan, Wathoora, Bugam, Hafroo, Hayatpora, Yousmarg, Gogjipathri, Budgam town, Ichgam, Choon, Kremshore, Khan Sahib, Brenwar, Kanir, Barwah, Hanjoora, SIDCO, Ompora, NIFT campus, Budgam Railway Station, Nasrullahpora, Sholipora, Watrihail, Charangam, Sebdan, Brinjin, Raithan, Surasyar, and adjoining areas.

Authorities have urged residents of the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and cooperate during the scheduled outages as these upgrades are crucial for improving the power infrastructure and ensuring long-term reliability.
