Div Com Jammu forms joint committee to study bird-related hazards at Jammu Airport

JAMMU, JULY 29: Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to discuss measures for preventing bird-related hazards at the Jammu Airport.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, AOC Air Force Station Jammu, Vice Chairman JDA, ADDC Jammu, CEO Cantonment Board Jammu and representatives of AAI.

The meeting discussed the issue of bird hazards originating from the surrounding areas of the Jammu Airport. It was informed that the accumulation of garbage and dumping of waste attracts the birds that fly over the periphery of the Airport.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the JMC, JDA and CEO Cantonment Board Jammu to implement a robust garbage disposal mechanism in the areas surrounding the Jammu Airport. He further asked them to issue prohibitory orders and awareness drives for the prevention of garbage dumping that attracts birds.

The Divisional Commissioner also constituted a Committee under ADDC Jammu Sher Singh with members from JDA, JMC, Cantonment Board Jammu, AAI Jammu and Air Force Station Jammu to conduct the field visit and submit a report within a week, suggesting effective measures to prevent the bird-related hazards at the Jammu Airport.
