Sunderbani: On his way to Rajouri-Poonch, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra today interacted with Congress workers at Sunderbani and urged them to fight for the restoration of statehood, stating that the current dual control system under Union Territory status is a deception against the people.
Earlier in the day, Karra had announced a fresh schedule of agitation for the restoration of statehood during a press conference in Jammu. He then departed on a three-day visit to the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to mobilise public support for the movement “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq”. In Sunderbani, he met with party workers led by former MLC and JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma.
Karra urged the workers to educate the masses about the drawbacks and hollowness of the dual control system, calling it a powerless structure under which the elected government cannot fulfil the people’s expectations or alleviate their sufferings of the past 11 years. He said that the Congress party is at the forefront of the struggle to restore democratic rights, identity, and full powers to the people of J&K. He appealed to all sections of society to rise above all considerations and join the movement to make it a true people’s struggle.
Later, the JKPCC Chief visited the Ashram of Atal Peethadeeshwar Rajguru Mahamandleshwar Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Ji at Sunderbani. He met Swami Ji and appreciated his efforts for the socio-religious and educational upliftment of the region’s youth and his work to keep them away from addictions. Karra lauded Swami Ji’s philosophy and efforts to promote peace, harmony, and brotherhood among followers of different faiths, and urged him to continue his noble work and bless the people with his guidance.
