MD Jal Jeevan Mission reviews progress on groundwater-based schemes

SRINAGAR, JULY 23: Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today convened a review meeting of Jal Shakti (PHE) circles and divisions of Kashmir province at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.

The meeting was convened to discuss the progress on groundwater-based schemes being executed in Kashmir province.

The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers, Hydraulic circles of Kashmir provinces and Superintending Engineers Mechanical North and South Kashmir, Executive Engineers of civil divisions and their Mechanical counterpart in Ground Water Division, besides Technical Advisor Kashmir in Mission Directorate and other officers

The Executive Engineer Ground Water Division Srinagar presented a detailed report in this regard. He informed the meeting that most of the successfully drilled tube wells have been handed over to the concerned field division, and the remaining allotted tube wells are being drilled.

The Mission Director asked the officers of Ground Water Division Srinagar to deploy more drilling rigs in the districts where there are a substantial number of ground water-based schemes.

He also directed the Executive Engineer, Ground Water Division, Srinagar, to mobilise rigs and manpower to the sites where allotments have been made for drilling the tube wells at new sites identified by the civil counterparts. He was informed that men and machinery have been deployed in some districts, and more rigs will be deployed in coming weeks so that these tube wells are drilled and handed over to the civil divisions before the onset of winter season.

Superintending Engineers Both Mechanical and Civil gave suggestions regarding efficient implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in their respective jurisdictions.
