Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has trapped and arrested a Patwari of Halqa Humchipora, in Budgam, over bribery.
In a statement, the ACB said that it had received a complaint that Tahir Jan Malla, the Patwari of Halqa Humchipora, was demanding a bribe of ₹2000 each for two sale deeds for affecting the mutation (Intiqal) of land situated at Alamnaag Khag, Budgam, in favour of the complainant through the online system.
A discreet verification confirmed the demand for a bribe by the accused public servant, following which a case was registered U/S 7 PC Act 1988.
During sthe ubsequent investigation, a trap team was constituted, which caught the accused public servant Tahir Jan Malla of Sebdan Budgam, red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of ₹2,000 from the complainant.
After completing all necessary medico-legal formalities, the accused public servant was taken into custody.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
