Over Rs 41 crore allocated under DDC, BDC, PRI & Aspirational Grants in Bandipora

BANDIPORA: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has allocated over Rs 41 crore for developmental works in Bandipora district under DDC, BDC, PRI, and Aspirational Grants for the financial year 2025–26.

This was given out in a meeting chaired by District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Ab Gani Bhat on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chairperson DDC Bandipora, Kowsar Shafeeq, all elected DDC members of the district, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri and all the other concerned officers of the district administration to discuss the formulation of the District Capex Plan for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting threadbare discussed sector-wise proposals across all three constituencies of the district besides discussing the progress of ongoing developmental works under the 2024-25 Capex Plan, taking stock of their financial and physical status.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner gave a detailed overview of the progress made under the District Capex Plan 2024-25, and also highlighted key focus areas for the District Capex Plan 2025-26.

The meeting was informed that Rs 10 crores have been reserved for works under DDC Grants, Rs 3 crore under BDC grants, Rs 25 Crore under PRI grants, Rs 2 Crore under Aspirational Block Development scheme and 1.2 Crores under Aspirational Panchayat Development scheme.

Giving details, Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting that 483 works will be carried out in DDC grants, including 139 spill-over works, 107 works under BDC Grants, including 30 spill-over works, 1488 works under PRI Grants, including 579 spill-over works.

In the regular district budget, it was given out that there are 12 ongoing works in the health sector with a total outlay of 1.86 Cr since last financial year while 8 works are under execution in elementary education infra development with an approved outlay of Rs 2.85 Cr.

The meeting also discussed the liability on account of ongoing works and the availability of funds for new works. Deputy Commissioner informed that Rs 1.04 Cr are available for new works under Aspirational Block Developmental scheme

While deliberating on the Capex Plan for 2025-26, Chairperson DDC Bandipora emphasized prioritizing projects based on public demand. He stressed the need for effective implementation of schemes at the grassroots level in alignment with the actual needs and aspirations of the people.

He called for enhanced inter-departmental coordination and timely fund release to ensure efficient implementation of government schemes.

Bhat stressed on innovative and result-oriented implementation of various government schemes. He urged all departments to maintain transparency, adhere to timelines, and ensure prioritising public welfare developmental initiatives under the District Capex Plan.

Among others, senior officers from the district administration, including CPO, ACD, and Executive Engineers from R&B, PDD, MID, and REW divisions, besides Block Development Officers, were present during the meeting.
