DC Kupwara reviews progress of Poshan schemes

KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of Poshan schemes of the ICDS department in the district.

Addressing the meeting, DC enjoined upon all the officers to work with concerted efforts and close coordination to ensure the achievement of the desired targets within the stipulated time frame. She emphasized for intensifying IEC campaigns for coverage of beneficiaries under different Poshan schemes in the district.

To ensure drinking water and sanitation facilities in left-out Anganwari Centres and schools, ACD was directed to prioritise the work and ensure 100% coverage of these AWCs and schools.

To monitor the functioning of newly constructed buildings, it was given out that the ICDS department shall submit a report on a weekly basis about the completion and handover/takeover of the buildings being established in different ICDS Blocks.

Similarly, for the best utilisation of the abandoned buildings, PO was directed to take over the well-located buildings to meet the needs of AWCs facing a scarcity of space.

Earlier, Programme Officer, Yar Ali Khan, briefed the chair about the progress and achievements of the ICDS department. He said 85962 beneficiaries have been registered under Poshan Tracker from 2320 Anaganwari Centres.

DC also took a detailed review of different works and schemes of the ICDS sector, which include supplementary nutrition, Preschool education, nutrition and health education, immunisation, Saksham/Balvidalya AWCs, Poshan Vatikas, PMMVY, etc.

Representatives from the Piramal Foundation present in the meeting also briefed the chair about the ‘Kuposhan Mukt Panchayat Initiative’ and highlighted different indicators for their improvement.

The meeting was attended by Programme Officer ICDS, ACD, CMO, CEO, CPO, and CDPOs, representatives from Piramal Foundation and other concerned were present in the meeting.
