Launched on June 25, 2015, the PMAY-Urban mission was envisioned to provide ‘Housing for All’ in urban areas by ensuring access to pucca houses with basic amenities for all eligible urban poor families. Now in its 10th year, the PMAY-U 2.0 phase focuses on consolidating the progress made and ensuring complete saturation of beneficiaries.

As part of the anniversary observance, camps have been held in various wards including Ward No. 31 & 35 at Marriage Hall Chanapora, Ward No. 32 Baghat, Ward No. 28 Batamaloo, and Ward No. 29 Magarmal Bagh. These camps are providing on-spot title verification, issuance of income certificates, application support, and awareness on beneficiary entitlements under the housing scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, officials from SMC stated that the initiative aims to empower citizens through informed participation and accelerate the implementation of the PMAY-U scheme. Banners were installed at all camp venues and information was disseminated to the public through various communication channels to ensure maximum outreach.

Commissioner, SMC lauded the proactive role of Ward Officers and field teams and reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to inclusive and equitable urban housing. Citizens have been encouraged to participate in the ongoing camps and avail the benefits of the scheme.

The 10th Anniversary of PMAY-U is not just a celebration of the mission’s journey but also a reaffirmation of the vision to provide every urban citizen with access to dignified and secure housing.
