Power shutdowns announced in Srinagar and Sopore

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in parts of Srinagar and Sopore to facilitate critical infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.

The outages, which will affect multiple localities on 7th and 10th July respectively, are necessary to complete balance works, test charging of new grid infrastructure, and shifting of overhead conductors to newly erected poles.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, in order to carry out completion of balance work and test charging of evacuation of power from 150 MVA GIS Grid Station at Tengpora through UG Cable circuit upto Allochibagh Bund (Part D), shutdown of 33KV GIS Tengpora Narkara line, 33 KV GIS Tengpora Danderkha line, 33 KV GIS Tengpora KP Bagh line and 33 KV GIS Tengpora Exhibition line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Station at Danderkha shall remain off while power supply to Danderkha, SD Colony, Tengpora, Gulberg Colony will be affected from 06:00 AM to 01:00 PM on 7 July, 2025.

To facilitate Shifting of ACSR Conductor on newly erected 11 mtr poles feeding Receiving Station Sidiq Colony, shutdown of 33KV Amargarh Sopore line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Station at Sidiq Colony shall remain off while power supply to Model Town, Noorbagh Hospital, Kapra and adjoining areas will be affected from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on 10 July, 2025.
