GMC Srinagar conducts Fire Fighting Mock Drill to enhance emergency preparedness

SRINAGAR: To enhance emergency preparedness and response among the staff, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, in collaboration with the Fire & Emergency department, today organized a comprehensive fire fighting mock drill at the institution.

The mock drill witnessed active participation from various stakeholders, including the Principal/Dean, Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan; Administrator Associated Hospitals, M Ashraf Hakak; Chief Accounts Officer and staff members from sanitation, security, mechanical, and electrical departments of GMC and associated hospitals.

During the drill, participants were trained on fire safety procedures, usage of fire extinguishers, and evacuation protocols. The exercise also provided an opportunity for the staff to familiarize themselves with the firefighting equipment and emergency response systems installed in the institution.

Prof. Dr. Iffat emphasized the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness.

M Ashraf Hakak appreciated the efforts of the Fire & Emergency department for conducting the mock drill.

The mock drill was conducted in a realistic and safe manner, with the Fire & Emergency department providing expert guidance and support. The exercise concluded with a debriefing session, where the participants discussed the key takeaways and areas for improvement.

GMC Srinagar remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its patients, visitors, and staff. Regular training exercises and drills like this help the institution to stay prepared and respond effectively in case of any emergency.
